Can a 100-person law firm sell its data to AI?

Program eligibility, the published price band and U.S. firm counts for law firms with about 100 employees.

Short answer: A 100-person firm clears every published headcount rule. Mode's FAQ band for 50 to 149 full-time US staff is $400K to $900K indicative, and the scope question (what client information stays out) matters more than size.

Mode's affiliate FAQ gives indicative offers by full-time US staff: 20 to 49 = $200K to $500K, 50 to 149 = $400K to $900K, 150+ = $800K+, with eligible companies under 20 quoted individually. Mode calls these 'indicative ranges, not offers' (Mode affiliate FAQ).

For about 100 staff that is $400K to $900K. Mode names four drivers: how many people work in the company's systems (today and at its peak), years of records, number of connected systems, and volume. Records that show outcomes, such as deals won or lost and jobs completed, raise the number (Mode affiliate FAQ).

What still decides the deal

Size gets you a call; scope decides whether there is anything to license. ABA Model Rule 1.6(a) bars revealing information relating to the representation of a client without informed consent or an exception (Rule 1.6), and Rule 1.9 carries duties to former clients (Rule 1.9). Your state's version is the one that binds you.

Frequently asked questions

Do partners count as employees?

The programs don't define headcount publicly. Mode's bands use full-time US staff; ask how it counts equity partners.

Does a bigger firm have more client data to exclude?

Usually, yes. More matters means more client information, so the exclusion work grows with the firm.

How long would it take?

Mode's FAQ says most companies go from first call to payment in about 2 to 3 months.
